On a 10%/5% Tuesday at Sobeys, today's $avvy $hopper example:
  • is a card carrying member of Club Sobeys Rewards Program;
      (Necessary to receive both the 10% and 5% Tuesday discounts.)
  • has accumulated enough points to make a $30.00 redemption;
        (3,750 points)
  • has prepared his/her shopping list, matching available coupons to current flyer sales;
  • has calculated his/her total purchase, prior to coupon discounts and excluding all applicable deposits, environmental fees and taxes to be exactly $50.00;
        (This IS only an example remember! lol)
        (Both the 10% and the 5% discount figures are arrived at by using the transaction total BEFORE coupon discounts and
        EXCLUDING bottle deposits, environmental handling fees [EHC] and applicable taxes [G.S.T.])
  • has computed his/her coupon discount savings to be 30% of that $50.00;
        (30% is generally considered a common savings average - this is assuming today's $avvy $hopper has built up his/her
        coupon inventory & flyer products are a regular stocked product.)
  •  sat back and looked at the picture!!

Shoppers Drug Mart is having a 20X The Optimum Points Day this Saturday, February 2, 2013 when you spend $50.

20X Points Shopping Days are one of the fastest ways to build up your points.

Coupon is required, download yours here.
Before heading home after your 10% Tuesday shopping, why not stop in and reward yourself for your Savvy coupon savings on such a chilly day!

If you mention FB you'll receive 2 stamps for one transaction!

     You may encounter a situation where a cash register is not receptive to scanning a FPC or not accepting it manually and the cashier in her frustration indicates he/she is simply going to 'Void' it.

     Don't let that happen!!  Protest politely and simply ask him/her to call their supervisor.  There are times when such a transaction would never affect your shopping transaction however there are far more instances when it will.  If your habit is to never permit it to happen you won't be put on the spot mentally trying to figure out if permitting it will result in a negative financial outcome.

     In most instances it will!!  Besides the obvious inventory errors the store is going to have to balance later, your total transaction will NOT:
  1. Be credited the value of that item, thus reducing your total transaction 'Value' by that much;
  2. Receive the applicable points/miles/etc. that you should have as set out in various Rewards Program's Official Rules & Regulations;
  3. Reach the minimum 'Total Purchases' threshold amount required during promotions which award you Bonus Points/Miles when you spend X amount of money - if the value of that particular FPC item happens to be the make it or break it amount.

     Some of the Rewards Programs where earnings would be lost are Club Sobeys, Shoppers Optimum Program, Air Miles, Aeroplan and Canadian Tire Money - both on the card and in paper.
Earn 8,000 Shoppers Optimum Point with the purchase of any 50ml Eau de Parfum Spray.

Offer expires February 14, 2013.
