I have come to believe that couponing is in fact an art.  It is also a ongoing educational process, one that can become overwhelming, the level of which depends on many factors.  I hope to remove a few of those levels by sharing what I have found works best with the retail stores available in the area as well as what is working for me personally.

Simplified - use whatever works best for you.  The main 'categories' - for lack of a better word - remain fairly constant, it's in the smaller details where everyone will make their own personal choices and adjustments.

***** What do I do first? ****

Start thinking.  If you've heard the saying - 'Keep it simple _____?', that's my best advice.  Even while you're ordering coupons, looking through flyers - think.  Get some idea in your head how exactly you want to 'process' this to start with.  The process will change as your coupon collection grows and as you become more knowledgeable and comfortable about it.  But for now keep it simple.
  • Where are you going to put your coupons when they first come in the door if you're not able to put them into your coupon organizer right away?
  • What type of storage system do you want to start out with?  More on this in the 'Art of Organization' section.
  • Do you have a Facebook account?
  • If not, are you going to set one up?  Many coupon offers are only accessible via Facebook.
  • Are you going to set up a new email account before you even visit your first coupon ordering site?  (Highly recommended - or wish you had once it becomes evident you should have!)
  • Where are you going to set up your stockpile?  Have you got space to set up one stockpile location or do you need to do a little rearranging of your cupboards or storage spaces? (More on stockpiling here ('Art of Organization - Stockpiling'.)
  • Are you going to need some type of shelving unit if you need one or other storage options?
  • Do you have a small calculator that can go with you when you shop or do you need to get one?
  • How are you printer paper & ink supplies?
  • Have you some simple office supplies - writing instruments, at least 1 red pen, a sharpie, paper clips, maybe some file folders that could be recycled & used?
You're now ready to start collecting and building your coupon inventory!  Click here to find out where and how!!
