Canada Coupon Policies Almost all major retail stores in Canada have a Coupon Policy. Whenever there's an issue or confusion at the till it's these policies that are referred to in clearing up the issue. It's important to become familiar with these policies as it's an area which not all cashiers and in some cases, cashier supervisors have not been trained in.
It is a strong $avvy recommendation to have a copy of these with your coupons and always accessible when you're shopping as you may need to pull them out to support your position. Coupon Etiquette calls for you to do so in a firm but CALM, POLITE and RESPECTFUL manner. In the event the cashier is unsure of how to handle the situation request his/her supervisor to be called; if the supervisor is also unsure request the next person of authority to be called. The situation may include a call to their H.O. for clarification. This is not a bad thing nor anything you need to be embarrassed about - your money is what's at stake! |

Should you encounter a situation where the item you're purchasing scans higher that the advertised selling price and the store that you are purchasing it are a participating member, you are entitled to either:
This Code is endorsed by The Competition Bureau of Canada and has been adopted voluntarily by nearly every major retail outlet in Canada. I will upload the most complete current list of retailers as soon as I have a moment. For now just know that the following retailers in our local shopping areas that HAVE agreed to abide by this Code are:
